Photo Composites
Every show has a ton of photo composites that are little more than dropping your actors into a new setting. I won't bore you with those. This is a selection of some of the more involved composites I've done.
Pieces of Her: Blues Bar mockup
Using a daytime photo of our location from a scout, I put together an illustration of what our final set piece would look like, with all signage, a night time setting and even a wet down on the pavement.
DC's Stargirl - Newspaper Image
For a newspaper scripted as "Green Arrow and Speedy Stop the Spider" I had to use existing photos of Green arrow and Speedy from a previous-season photoshoot of them with their superhero team, then use stock images and lots of editing to make a completely new scene of them stopping a villain, who is completely wrapped in rope to avoid making his costume. This was then given a halftone look and added to the front page of the newspaper.
Stargirl: Blackbriar Thorn Mugshot
This is a mugshot of a 2,000 year old druid with wood for skin. The beard made that especially challenging, involving masking out individual hairs.
Star: De-Aging Comp
A plot point involving a 20-year-old photo necessitated de-aging our actress by 20 years as well as comping the scene. To achieve this, I used old Getty images for reference and re-shaped her face to match her actual appearance 20 years prior. Then, for the final comp, I had to draw in individual hairs to make sure she blended properly with the background, due to her hair style. I also gave her some period-appropriate makeup.
DC's Stargirl: Head Replacements
Our actor was not available for a whole slew of photos of his character's family photos, so they were shot with his stand-in. When the actor arrived, I shot photos of him with my phone and then edited his head into the photos.
